Sandy Colyer

MS, CAS, COO

Sandy Colyer is a Founding partner, and current Chief Operating Officer for Phoenix Preferred Care, Inc.

Sandy received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and corrections from Eastern Kentucky University in 1984 and a Master’s and Rank 1 in Special Education with an emphasis in Moderate & Severe Disabilities from the University of Kentucky in 1994. She is a founding partner and Chief Operating Officer of Phoenix Preferred Care which was established in 1998. For the past 25 years, Sandy’s mission has been to provide quality mental health services to children and families in the Lake Cumberland region. Mirroring Sandy’s mission, Phoenix Preferred Care has built a reputation for exceptional level of care and commitment in the community.

In addition to her role as Chief Operating Officer, Sandy is passionate about and continues to provide children’s case management services. Sandy also provides case manager supervision and in so doing, guiding the next generation of case managers as they build their understanding and skills in providing excellent, client-centered services.

Beyond her work at Phoenix, Sandy is active in organizations that improve quality of life for children and adults in our community. She’s currently serves and is the Board Chair for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southern Kentucky (CASA SKY). Sandy is currently a member and serves as the Board Secretary for Somerset First Church of the Nazarene. She serves on the Board of Directors for Phoenix Wellness, Inc. and is a current member of Somerset-Pulaski Morning Rotary. Previously, she was the Executive Director of Operation Hope Emergency Shelter for Children, and a Special Education Teacher at Northern Middle School.

Along with her husband Martin, she lives in Somerset. She has three children, Jessica (Cole) Meece, Brandon and Kenny Colyer, and two grandchildren Arlo and Amos Meece.
