Candace Duncan

Candace is a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) with a passion for helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. She believes in creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills. Candace earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands in 2025. She completed her internship at Phoenix Preferred Care from May 2024 to August 2025, where she gained valuable experience practicing under clinical supervision.

Candace specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults, addressing a range of concerns including identity and self-esteem, family and relationship dynamics, trauma, and peer relationships and social skills. Through a trauma-informed approach, she helps clients develop self-compassion and quiet their inner critic, empowering them to create meaningful, lasting change.

She is particularly skilled at using play and expressive arts interventions to help children express emotions and build social skills through structured activities, sensory play, and storytelling. For adults, Candace utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework to help clients explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, empowering them to cultivate more balanced and self-compassionate thinking.

When she’s not working, Candace enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and reading. She also loves spending time with her family and her Coy-Wolf, Makoyiwa. When the weather is nice, you can often find her traveling to Renaissance Faires, hiking, or visiting historical sites.

Candace is currently a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Play Therapy (APT), and the Kentucky Association for Play Therapy (KYAPT).
